Entertainment & Recreation

Steel fabrication and installation for theatres, multiplexes, auditoriums, and community venues. Where long spans, open interiors, and public safety define the steel work.

Big Spaces Require Steel That Can Cover Them

Entertainment & Recreation Steel Solutions

Venues built for audiences need large open interiors, clear sightlines, and structural systems that stay out of the way while holding everything up. Elance Steel fabricates and installs the long-span trusses and structural steel systems that make these spaces possible.

Entertainment and recreation facilities ask more of their steel than most buildings. The spans are longer, the roof structures are more complex, and the geometry often has to accommodate seating layouts, acoustic requirements, and architectural features that don’t follow a standard grid.

Elance Steel has fabricated and installed steel for theatres, multiplexes, auditoriums, and community venues across Saskatchewan. For the Moose Jaw Multiplex, we designed, fabricated, and installed large curved trusses spanning up to 180 feet. At the Galaxy Theatre in Saskatoon, we built the steel-framed seating structures. For the Centennial Auditorium, we handled an addition built between two existing buildings, where the steel had to tie into structures on both sides.

These projects share a common requirement: the steel has to be precise. When trusses span 150 or 180 feet, small fabrication errors become big installation problems. Our in-house design, fabrication, and installation teams work together from the start to make sure what leaves the shop fits the building.

Common Steel Applications in Entertainment & Recreation Venues

Real World Applications

These facilities rely on steel systems that create large open spaces while supporting public safety and building function. Here's what we fabricate and install most often for venue projects.

Typical applications include:

  • Long-span roof trusses, including curved and tapered profiles
  • Structural framing for theatres, auditoriums, and multiplex cinemas
  • Steel-framed seating and spectator support structures
  • Catwalks, service platforms, and backstage access systems
  • Stairs, handrails, and guardrails for public circulation
  • Architectural steel features and entrance structures

Why Venue Projects Work With Us

Why Elance?

Long-span steel is where our fabrication and installation experience shows most clearly. A 180-foot curved truss can’t be off by much. The fabrication has to be right, the connections have to be right, and the erection sequence has to account for how the structure behaves under its own weight before it’s fully connected.

We’ve done this work on real venues, with real constraints. Because the same organization handles design, fabrication, and installation, there’s no gap between the people planning the steel and the people putting it up. That matters on every project, but it matters most when the steel is long, heavy, and curved.

Steel That Supports the Experience

Our integrated Design, Fabrication, and Installation services allow us to support the unique requirements of entertainment and recreation facilities. By coordinating steel services internally, we help manage complexity and support efficient construction.

  • Design and fabrication of long-span trusses, including curved and non-standard geometries
  • Structural steel coordination for large open interiors, seating systems, and stage areas
  • In-house fabrication with the precision tolerances that long-span structures demand
  • Installation planning for heavy lifts, complex sequencing, and tight construction schedules

Other Industries We Serve

Our team has delivered steel solutions for a wide range of sectors, from commercial and industrial developments to public infrastructure and large-scale recreation facilities. This breadth of experience allows us to adapt our approach to the unique demands of each project while maintaining consistent quality and performance.
