Company History

Since 1979, Elance Steel has grown from a small Saskatchewan fabricator into a full-service structural steel partner serving projects across Western Canada.

Elance Steel delivers structural steel design, custom fabrication, and installation for commercial, industrial, institutional, and public-sector projects. Our team supports contractors and project partners with practical steel solutions that are buildable, coordinated, and delivered with accountability—so the work moves smoothly from drawings to site.

We’re known for taking on challenging scopes, solving real construction constraints, and producing steel that fits the job the way it’s supposed to.

Founded in 1979. Built to Keep Up.

Elance Steel was founded in 1979 by Jim Baier and Rick Libke, who remain with the company today. From the beginning, the goal was straightforward: provide structural steel and miscellaneous metals at a fair price, with the kind of reliability contractors can plan around.

As demand grew, Elance expanded its in-house capabilities—adding design and detailing support and building a team that could handle more of the steel scope under one roof. That approach reduced coordination headaches for clients and gave projects a clearer path from early planning through fabrication and installation.

A Saskatchewan Company With a Western Canadian Footprint

Elance Steel has helped shape skylines and job sites across Saskatchewan and beyond, with work completed in communities including Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Yorkton, and more. We’re proud to be Saskatchewan-based, and we value the long-term relationships we’ve built with local contractors, owners, and project teams.
